Hello everyone,
My name is Gabriella Draboczi and I am a Teacher-Librarian in a Revelstoke elementary school. I have been in this position for five years. Since our school is quite small I always have other classes and subjects to teach. Right now I am teaching Grade 2, some prep to Kindergarten, some Learning Support and Core French. I am also responsible for organizing the online education for students who can't attend school in person.
I am originally from Budapest, Hungary. I have a Masters in Teaching Literature and Linguistics, and did my Minors in Media Studies. I worked as an English Teacher in a Hungarian K-12 School for three years. It was a Jewish school, so I learned a lot about the Jewish religion, customs and holidays.
After immigrating to Canada I taught ESL at the Revelstoke English Language School for three years. When my kids were young we moved to Thailand and I taught grade 1/2 at a bilingual Buddhist-environmentalist school in Chiang Mai. I also got familiar with Buddhism, Thai traditions and customs, as usual.
I got my B.Ed from the University of Winnipeg's Overseas Program while teaching in Thailand. This is my eighth year as a teacher in SD19, Revelstoke. I also worked at the public library as an Assistant Librarian part-time, that's how I got chosen for this position that I am at right now.
I am looking forward to learning more about Teacher-Librarianship, also, I am excited to connect with other teachers in BC, since sometimes I feel that I only know Revelstoke, and it's hard to get an overall BC experience.
This is my third course in this program. I found the other two very interesting and eye-opening.
Gabriella
